FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP, KNOWING JESUS - REBROADCAST

FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP
KNOWING JESUS - REBROADCAST
Aired 7/25/2014@ 10:00pm CENTRAL
REBROADCAST FROM LAST YEAR
Let's review the event that proved the truth of all Jesus taught and claimed to be. The fulfilling an amazing promise - that three days after His death He would return alive from the grave. His disciples did not understand how this was possible. They did not expect it to happen. Jesus removed every doubt by proving in every way, to all their senses, that His destroyed body had come back to life. He was "declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 1:4). His resurrection proves that "He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him" (Hebrews 7:25).
It's good to look at some basics of the Christian faith from time to time.

BE RECONCILED TO GOD - Broadcast - Friday, 7/11/2014 @10:00pm central

BE RECONCILED TO GOD
7/11/2014 @ 10:00PM central
"The only purpose of the gospel is to reconcile people to God and to each other. A gospel that doesn't reconcile is not a Christian gospel at all. But in America, it seems as if we don't believe that. We don't really believe that the proof of our discipleship is that we love one another. No, we think the proof is in numbers ... Even if our "converts" continue to hate each other, even if they will not worship with their brothers and sisters in Christ, we point to their "conversion" as evidence of the gospel's success. We have substituted a gospel of church growth for a gospel of reconciliation.”
  ~John Perkins
Let's discuss what reconcilliation is really all about.

BE NOT OF THE WORLD

"The invasion of the Church by the world is a menace to the extension of Christ's Kingdom. In all ages conformity to the world by Christians has resulted in lack of spiritual life and a consequent lack of spiritual vision and enterprise. A secularized or self-centered Church can never evangelize the world."

ON PRAYER
God, there is so much war, so much violence, so much conflict -- too much. And it is the poorest and most vulnerable who suffer even more as a result: in displacement, in victimization, in loss of life. We lift up our brothers and sisters whose lives are most impacted by such circumstances. Bring peace to their lives, to their societies, to their worlds, Lord. And as we commit to walking with the poor, give us opportunities to stand with them and to stand for them. We pray all this in the name and power of the Prince of Peace, amen.

VERSE TO PONDER
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea."

CONSIDER
This is a cheerful world as I see it from my garden under the shadows of my vines. But if I were to ascend some high mountain and look out over the wide lands, you know very well what I would see: brigands on the highways, pirates on the sea, armies fighting, cities burning; in the amphitheaters men murdered to please applauding crowds; selfishness and cruelty and misery and despair under all roofs. It is a bad world, Donatus, an incredibly bad world. But I have discovered in the midst of it a quiet and holy people who have learned a great secret. They have found a joy which is a thousand times better than any pleasure of our sinful life. They are despised and persecuted, but they care not. They are masters of their souls. They have overcome the world. These people, Donatus ,are the Christians- and I am one of them.”
