That They All May Be One…
"And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
John 17: 13-17
"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."
John 18:36, 37
"And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?"
1 Corinthians 3:1-4
"And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded."
Genesis 11: 4,5
"…now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.... Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles."
1 Samuel 8:5-7, 19-20
Jesus prayed that His followers would be one, one with Him and the Father; one in purpose, one in heart, and in will. Today and through out history a battle is waging. This battle goes for the most part unnoticed by the majority of people. They are not aware of the battlefield nor the battle. Every man doing that which is right in his own eyes.
There is a Babylonian spirit at work today in the hearts of men who call themselves followers of Jesus Christ. The perilous times spoken of by Paul the apostle has been working for centuries and all the more in our day. This is written to instruct and encourage my brothers-in-Christ to examine their church practices and Christian experience with the scriptures and compare their church practices and experience with what the Bible prescribes for the church to be, in life style and gatherings; thus prove if they are genuine or counterfeit; gold or dross.
I pray that our life be a life of repentance lived out in obedience. Brethren I am calling the church to repent. I am calling Christian leaders to repent of lording it over the brethren. Repent of making for yourselves kingdoms for your own earthly gain. Pastors repent of standing in Christ's stead acting as though you are Christ and thus decapitate Jesus from His people.
Let us, who call upon His name, return to the biblical New Testament assembly in its simplicity, purity, dynamic, relational, Holy Ghost filling and power. Let us by his grace and mercy be the church, not go to church!!
Let this little letter go around the world and find its mark where the LORD wills and let His kingdom come and His will be done.
Your Brother in Christ,
Tim Germain
