WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT DISCERNMENT?
What is the measuring stick in determining the difference between
"good-Spirit-light vs. evil-fleshly-dark"? (Heb. 5:14) Can we tell the
difference or "discern" what is the "good - will" of God and the "evil -
will" of satan?
Join us as we immerse ourselves in the depth of understanding the Word
of God. The phone lines will be open for your questions and/or comments

"If I say, "Yes, I forgive, but I cannot forget," as though God, who twice a day washes all the sands on all the shores of all the world, could not wash such memories from my mind, then I know nothing of Calvary love."

"As we will see, [God's] discipline is his mercy... [W]e understand that the manna revolt and the discipline do not occur at the beginning of the Israelites' journey. They have been rescued from a pursuing army at the Red Sea and rescued from their thirst and hunger with God's provision in the desert...
"They are now nearing the gateway to the land promised to their forefathers. They are no longer at the beginning of their journey, yet they are still behaving like beginners. They seem no closer to actually trusting their God than at the beginning of the wilderness experience. Their repeated refrain remains, "We don't trust you."
"This is a critical point. The Israelites do not seem to have changed over the course of two years in the wilderness... the dissonant tune repeats itself over and over: 'Hardship intended to build trust results instead in contemptuous complaint.' The harsh discipline of the quail plague is not severity for its own sake -- it is intended to dislodge the Israelites from the rut of their lethal, faith-destroying groove. As is true in our lives, here with the Israelites, God is at work to rescue."

GRACE: SWEETER THAN AMNESIA
"Grace isn't about having a second chance; grace is having so many chances that you could use them through all eternity and never come up empty. It's when you finally realize that the other shoe isn't going to drop, ever. It's the moment you feel as precious and handmade as every star, when you feel, finally, at home for the very first time.
"Grace is when you finally stop keeping score and when you realize that God never was, that his game is a different one entirely.
"Grace is when the silence is so complete that you can hear your own heartbeat, and right within your ribs, God's beating heart, too.
"I used to think that the ability to turn back time would be the greatest possible gift, so that I could undo all the things I wish I hadn't done. But grace is an even better gift, because it allows me to do more than just erase; it allows me to become more than I was when I did those things. It's forgiveness without forgetting, which is much sweeter than amnesia."

THOUGHT FOR TODAY - 09/24/2015
"It is grace at the beginning, and grace at the end. So that when you and I come to lie upon our death beds, the one thing that should comfort and help and strengthen us there is the thing that helped us in the beginning. Not what we have been, not what we have done, but the grace of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. The Christian life starts with grace, it must continue with grace, it ends with grace. Grace, wondrous grace. By the grace of God I am what I am. Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."
~ D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
A PUBLIC NOTICE FOR MY FRIENDS
Many of you know my stance as it pertains to the Institutional Church and my desire to no longer be ensnared in that system.
My choice; mine and mine alone.
It has come to my attention, of late, that my views have had a "negative influence" on some members of the body and they have decided to no longer financially support the fellowships they attend.
I wish to make plain my views on this subject, separate from the snippets you may see from me from time to time.
First of all, I have no problem with people giving. Giving is the New Testament way of supporting one another. Today's New Testament believers will give "till it hurts" to help our fellow man. I just wish more in church "leadership" would make a distinction between freewill giving and "tithing" as taught today.
The "tithe" was an ordinance given to the children of Israel to support the Levitical priesthood because the tribe of Levi had no inheritance, land nor any other way to support themselves (Joshua 13:33; Deuteronomy 10:9; Joshua 13:14.) Also, according to Deuteronomy 14:22,23,28; 26:12; and Amos 4:4, the tithe was only given every three years. The Levites' only function was the care of the temple and offering burnt sacrifices in the temple. When the Levitical priesthood ended (no more temple), tithing ended. Also, when Christ died on the cross and the veil was torn, the Law was fulfilled and was not to be followed by believers in Christ.
Now I could spend an extended amount of time outlining the Biblical tithe as opposed to the modern day fund raising campaigns disguised as the "tithe," but the only thing I would suggest is that you become like the Bereans and TEST (not challenge) the words and teachings of those that are in "leadership" of the body.
For those of you that gather as a fellowship, in a church building, you know, (as with your own house) that the building needs funds to survive and to continue offering you a place to gather in fellowship. Simply put, to gather in the building and not help in it's support is not a good witness of Christian charity (not to be confused with "tithing".)
From what I've seen among my contemporaries, it has become more and more apparent, to me, that "tithing" (as taught today) has become a do or die test for fellowship in today's "church."

WORK IN PROGRESS
I just completed a broadcast where I used a few examples that I was later told could possibly be "offensive" to some in the Institutional Church (Hereafter referred to as "IC".) I'm supposed to back-track and explain a little more why I said what I said because many of these "offended" people are so scripturally inept that THEY NEED A LITTLE HELP UNDERSTANDING BASIC BIBLICAL TRUTHS....oops, I'm supposed to be apologizing with this post.
My broadcast is an open forum and I encourage feedback during these sessions. Got a problem with what I said, bring it. Offended by what I said and/or post on social media, bring it; but don't forget your Bible. I don't want to hear what thus saith "Creflo-T.D.-Marvin-Rick-Joel-etc..." OR ANY OTHER TV CROOK.....oops, I'm supposed to be apologizing with this post.
Better yet, don't "bring it;" we're just gonna play "who interprets the Bible better" games and bring reproach to the Body of Christ.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY - 09/16/2015
"Sometimes God will give us what we demand and let us take the consequences. This is not because he hates us or has given up on us. As harsh as those consequences may be, they are still under the control of a God who loves us and a God who sees. He sees the big picture. He sees what's coming. He knows the events and challenges for which we need to be prepared. In Hebrews, we read, 'No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it' (12:11).
"God's discipline trains us. It produces righteousness and peace. And God knows we desperately need these things. Just as a caring coach disciplines a player, God, in his care, may send a corrective discipline into the lives of his children. His discipline is intended to prepare us for the challenges and conflicts that lie in our future."

"Both the Old and New Testaments affirm that God is immortal, invisible, immutable, and self-existent. He is not a created being and is not therefore subject to the laws of nature. He created those laws, and all of nature and the cosmos adhere to them. God the Creator is outside time and space and cannot be proved or disproved by science, but he has given us a record of himself in the testimony of the prophets and apostles and, most important, through the life, death, and resurrection of his Son.
"The good news is that there is a God and he is not silent. There is a Creator who made the world, a Creator who made it possible for us to communicate with him, and, through simple faith, to find answers to life's most challenging questions. As more and more of us come to recognize this truth, the schools and colleges, and perhaps even the philosophy of science will have to change. And who knows where that could lead?"

A QUICK RANT FOR MY "LAW" KEEPER FRIENDS
Then used the following verse to close their thesis:
" "He said This: Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17" "
They were putting great emphasis on the words "not come to abolish."
I responded:
Not abolished because it (the law) is written to show us that we could not keep it and needed a savior. The Christ said: "I have not come to abolish them but to FULFILL them."
The fulfilling was accomplished ON THE CROSS.
The written words are still there as a reminder that we need a Savior. The law shows us that we are not perfect and that we cannot ever reach perfection (performing all that is written in "the law").
"Man" is performance oriented. Give "him" something to do, and "man" is happy even if "man" cannot do it, "he" has a measure wherewith "he" can compare "himself" with others.
"Man" has a hard time understanding GRACE because it is UNMERITED FAVOR. The cross is the ultimate example of UNMERITED FAVOR; meaning we don't have to DO anything (LAW KEEPING) to receive grace.
You keepers of the law, continue if that's YOUR measure of faithfulness.
I, however, prefer to receive the GRACE afforded me ON THE CROSS.

WHAT DOES THE REAL CHURCH LOOK LIKE?
The traditional church today doesn't know much about that. Most "pastors" preach an American gospel that's designed to make people comfortable with themselves and with God. It's an upbeat message of "I'm O.K. you're O.K. Just live your life however you think is best (as long as you come to church on Sunday and give me your money). Don't worry; God will meet you where you are. No changes are required, forget repentance, let's just rejoice and be happy. I'll see you in heaven. Remember, God loves you, besides, you don't believe anyone is really going to hell, do you?" Church ministry today is designed to give people what they want, what God requires is irrelevant. And, that is what you would expect it to be when men are in charge, instead of God. Let's open our Bibles to some truth.

CAN WE HAVE FREEDOM FROM EVIL?
Spirit will enable them to resist the desires of their sinful nature.
He knew all too well that the Galatians were attracted to the law
because it gives them specific moral guidelines to measure themselves
against.
When told to "live by the Spirit," it throws everything up in the air.
We don't have that measure of rules anymore.

"Many people are hungry not for bread only, but they are hungry for ... love. Many people are not only naked for want of a piece of cloth, but they are naked for human dignity ... Homelessness is not only not having a home made of bricks, but homelessness is being rejected, unwanted, unloved, uncared for. People have forgotten what the human touch is, what it is to smile, for somebody to smile at them, somebody to recognize them, somebody to wish them well."

THOUGHT FOR TODAY - 08/03/2015
"We have to repent of our blindness, our lukewarmness, and our disobedience, and turn back to the central truth of Christ as Lord and Saviour; an ethical system will not save us here, nor a timid sentimentalism, nor an excited emotional return, nor a dilettante mysticism.
"We have to find that deep contrition which is the condition of His abiding. Repentance is not a mere feeling of sorrow or contrition for an act of wrongdoing. The regret I feel when I act impatiently or speak crossly is not repentance.
"Repentance is contrition for what we are in our fundamental beings, that we are wrong in our deepest roots because our internal government is by Self and not by God. And it is an activity of the whole person. Unless I will to be different, the mind will not follow.
"True repentance brings an urge to be different, because of the sense of the incessant movement of what I am, forming, forming, forming what I shall be in the years to come."

"Every virtue is a form of obedience to God. Every evil word or act is a form of rebellion against Him. This may not be clear at first; but, if we think patiently, we shall find that it is true. Why were you angry? You will probably find that it was because you were not willing to accept the world as God has made it; or because you were not willing to leave it to God to deal with the people that He has made."

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS - LAW OR NOT?
God enacted a new plan at the cross! "Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord." (Heb. 8:9)
We have been programmed that performance is the focus of our walk with God. We didn't sign the contract, God did. We are just beneficiaries. Our "faithfulness" has been the problem all along.

PROPHESY OR NOT?
PROPHESEY OR NOT?
Should the "church" have prophets who function like the Old Testament prophets? What do we think about ministers/prophets who give personal prophecies concerning future events and directions for a person's life? Is there an "office" of "Prophet?" I believe wholeheartedly in the contemporary prophetic ministry. I do have some reservations, however, about current emphases that seem to go beyond the biblical description and guidelines for prophets and prophecies. THOUGHT FOR TODAY - 07/23/2015
"Walking in the knowledge of service and love with one's heavenly Father results in a unique quality of nearness to him. There is no shortcut to getting there. There is no way to accomplish it by just wishing it or repeating some simple formula. No relationship is built in ten easy steps, especially if it is going to be meaningful and lasting. True friendship comes from being faithful through the thick and thin of the vicissitudes of life. Fellowship with God will always be threatened by unexpected detours.
"The inherent danger within all of us is that no matter what God does, someone will wish he had done it differently. The gift of faith is precisely what makes it possible to accept that God works in his own way (which is not always our way), in his own time, and for his purpose. It is our assignment to lay aside our doubts and fall in line with God's purpose, always waiting patiently for the last link to fall into place, finding courage and strength to move forward in the fellowship we have with the Father. It was his fellowship with the Father, sustained by prayer, that made it possible for Jesus to move toward the cross when every fiber of his being was urging him in the opposite direction. God offers us this same fellowship with him."

A remorseful man, wanting to reassure his skeptical wife, said: "I'm
going to make a 360-degree turn."/
David Jeremiah writes: "That's the kind of change a lot of people make.
A 360-degree turn is no change at all. What we need is a 180-degree
change, a reverse direction, a U-Turn.
"In driving, U-turns are handy when we realize we're going in the wrong
way. The same is true in life. The Lord tells us to turn from our wicked
ways and to turn toward Him in confession and true repentance. This
involves a change of heart, a change of mind and a change of direction.
"What direction are you traveling right now? Don't keep barreling the
wrong way. Turn 180 degrees to Christ and start living for Him today."

Overview You think you know what happened---beatings, betrayals, mockery, a cross, some nails, and death. But that's just the surface of the story. What if you could get past the commonly recognized pieces of the account that tells how and why Jesus Christ died---the story everyone thinks he or she already understands? What if you could discover the heart, humanity, emotion, and meaning of Jesus' every encounter along the way from Gethsemane to Golgotha? "That [Jesus] should be crucified was a horror to [his best friends]; they would have made him a king, and ruined his father's work. He pre ferred the cruelty of his enemies to the kindness of his friends. The former with evil intent wrought his father's will; the latter with good intent would have frustrated it."

"The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul. If heed is not paid to this, it is not true music but a diabolical bawling and twanging."

"The resemblance between the words cosmos and cosmetic epilogue is no accident. Some of the ancients called the universe 'God's ornament,' recognizing it not only as a masterpiece of precision and design, but also of immense beauty. Believers who are confident in their beliefs can see the cosmos as the ancients did as an eloquent expression of a Creator God who delights not only in order and functional design, but also in sheer beauty.
"The awe you feel in the presence of such a massive display of power and beauty becomes even greater when you realize that you were created by the same hand that formed the galaxies. God has shown how precious we are to him by giving us this beautiful cosmos where we can revel in the beauty of his creation. He has also paid us the enormous compliment of creating us in his image and placing us in the world to be his agents, as representatives of his character, truth, and love. This is a worldview that gives our lives immense purpose and meaning."

"Change won't just take all the strength you have; it will take more. You need God's power. Do what you can, and trust God to do what you can't.
"In my second round of counseling, I finally admitted I was a workaholic. No longer reluctantly, I acknowledged that my problem could endanger my health and the well-being of my family. My wise Christian counselor helped me see that I'm addicted to adrenaline.
"Instead of finding my worth in what I produce, I'm finding my worth in who I am in Christ. Although I certainly haven't arrived, everyone around me will tell you that God has changed me. I am different because of his power. My day off is sacred. My time away is consistent. My devotional life is rich. And my family knows me. Instead of working fifteen nights straight, I'm at home six nights most weeks. Instead of traveling nonstop, preaching, I gladly limit my ministry trips to a dozen a year. Like my pastor friend said, 'I won't sacrifice my family on the altar of ministry.' I care for my family and for my body. And God has done more through the church when I've done less."

"Pleasure-seeking, as we learn from experience, is a barren business;
happiness is never found till we have the grace to stop looking for it
and to give our attention to persons and matters external to ourselves."

"The book of Job is known even by those who have no respect for God and his Word as that which best symbolizes the struggle of pain. Yet few have taken to heart what Job really says. I remember debating an atheist in which he quoted from Job and said that the answers given to Job were insufficient. I surprised him by telling him that Job would agree with him.
"Then I asked him if he knew what Job's answer was to that insufficiency he was offered? The man was silent. Job finds his answer in stages. He refuses to let one diagnosis or a great one-liner provide the satisfactory explanation for his situation. He starts his journey toward finding his answer for suffering and pain from the assumption of God as the Creator and Designer to seeing God as the Revealer of Truth, to recognizing him as Redeemer and Savior, and finally to experiencing him as the Restorer and Comforter.
"How fascinating, for here the three aspects of the Trinity emerge -- God the Father as Creator, God the Son as Redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit as Comforter. This triune God is a Being within whom there is a relationship. For Job, the overwhelming answer to his questions was not found in an argument. It was not found in a theological, philosophical, or scientific proposition. It was not even found in his relationships with his friends or his family, or in the truth or falsehood of their analyses of Job's problems. Job ultimately found the answer to his questions and his fear - to his pain and his grief -- in the voice of God and his divine encounter with him. The answer to his questions was a Person."

"There is, in a word, nothing comfortable about the Bible -- until we manage to get so used to it that we make it comfortable for ourselves. But then we are perhaps too used to it and too at home in it. Let us not be too sure we know the Bible ... just because we have learned not to have problems with it. Have we perhaps learned ... not to really pay attention to it? Have we ceased to question the book and be questioned by it?"
~Thomas Merton, from his book Opening the Bible
